Do I have to change my phone number? +
No. You keep your existing number and simply forward it to your Houji line. Callers dial the same number they always have — Houji answers on your behalf.
How long does setup take? +
Most businesses are set up in 15 minutes. You'll have a short conversation with Houji's onboarding assistant, who asks about your practice, pricing, and preferences — then generates your AI receptionist's configuration automatically.
What if my assistant gets something wrong? +
You can update her knowledge at any time from your dashboard — just type what you want to change. Every update is saved as a version, so you can always roll back. Houji also identifies gaps automatically from your call log each week.
What languages does Houji support? +
Currently English, Mandarin Chinese, and Spanish on the Pro plan. Houji detects the caller's language automatically and switches mid-conversation — no trigger phrase needed. Additional languages are on the roadmap.
Is this only for law firms? +
Not at all. Houji is built for any professional services business that handles inbound calls — medical practices, financial advisors, real estate agents, consultants, and more. Legal is our current focus, but the platform is designed to expand.
What happens after my free trial? +
You'll receive an email before your trial ends. If you'd like to continue, your card will be charged for the plan you selected. You can cancel anytime from your dashboard — no phone calls required.
How is my data handled? +
Houji stores call logs, transcripts, and message records to power your dashboard and notifications. We never sell your data or your clients' information. Call data is retained only as long as your account is active. See our
Privacy Policy for full details.
Is Houji confidential? +
Houji is a receptionist service, not an attorney-client communication channel. Elise always identifies herself as a virtual assistant. Call transcripts are stored on encrypted servers and can be configured to auto-delete. Houji never gives legal advice and never implies that an attorney-client relationship exists.
Does Houji comply with bar ethics rules? +
Elise always identifies as a virtual assistant, never claims to be human, never gives legal advice, and never implies that an attorney-client relationship has been formed. These are built-in guardrails that cannot be overridden. Houji was designed with professional responsibility requirements in mind.
What makes Houji different from other answering services? +
Houji is the only AI receptionist built by a practicing attorney specifically for law firms. It understands legal terminology, urgency levels, and attorney-client context. Unlike per-minute answering services ($0.05–$0.10/min adds up fast), Houji is flat monthly pricing. No setup fee, no IT required, live in minutes — and it speaks 8+ languages natively.
